DeMorrow Instruments, Ltd. is a small company that manufactures and sells mallet percussion instruments, specializing in marimbas and xylophones. Amongst knowledgeable individuals, DeMorrow instruments are known to be absolutely the world's finest. While many paid endorsers purport other manufacturers to be the best, they will privately (not publicly) acknowledge DeMorrow mallet percussion instruments have no equal. Many performers and universities include ownership of DeMorrow instruments as an important part of their recruiting and promotion processes. Doug's extraordinary expertise in this field began during his graduate studies in Percussion at North Texas University. His interest in the acoustics of the marimba bar led to a project, thesis, and ultimately the construction of a three-octave prototype marimba, currently on loan to Henderson State University. Being a musician and performer, his musical sensitivity and gifted ear play a substantive role in his ability to craft and creat instruments of unsurpassed sound and quality. Doug remains uncompromising in the selection of rosewood and other fine materials in crafting his instruments. Along the way, Doug has developed a unique expertise in the design, construction and fabrication of wood, metal, and other materials, which comprise the instruments he creates. His wood-joinery techniques are impeccable and innovative. The meticulous selection and grading of rosewood accompanied by his uncompromising attention in the fabrication of brass resonators are the very heart and soul of the DeMorrow marimba. Every detail of a DeMorrow instrument is unsurpassed. |
